LOG is shaped by hands and heart, with Bijoy Jain putting great care and research in to the materials used, thus we wanted to work with someone giving the same consideration to what we serve in ourdining room. The choice naturally fell on Ms. Ai Hosokawa, a Japanese food creative who’s nourishing and clean flavors has earned her great attention within the Japanese food world over the past 15 years. During her youth she spent several years in Italy and ever since her return to Japan she has written an impressive range of cookbooks and hosts regular cooking classes, along writing and appearances in various food media. With her attention to and respect for produce, along with a cooking style best described as uncomplicated home-cooking, rich with seasonal fruit and vegetables, no one else could be a better fit. Her cooking is inspired by regular travels through Europe and Asia with the foundation that if a vegetable or ingredient tastes good in itself there is no need to dress it excessively in other flavours, but let its uniqueness take up space. We are very honored to be able to have our guests enjoy her food.
LOG aspires to an attitude of “cycles” for its food, clothing, and shelter. Moreover, we visit local farms and ports with the idea of “rediscovering things from Onomichi” and use ingredients in our dishes that will change according to the seasons throughout the year. In particular, vegetables are indispensable for LOG’s dishes. We consider each chosen ingredient to determine how best to bring out the unique flavor of that ingredient. With these ideas in mind, the menu changes gradually according to the season, and we are able to use the entire ingredient without waste.

CAFÉ・BAR Atmosphere
From the start of the day until the evening, a menu of light meal and LOG original drinks are served at the café. In the evening, enjoy domestic wines and seasonal cocktails. In the creation of this space, plaster craftsmen constructed the dirt floor including the spandrel wall using soil mixed with soil from LOG. The walls are painted pink, and the storage shelves were made using pink colored mirrors created in India. The bar’s brown countertop is covered with Japanese paper and lacquered. The furniture is finished and lacquered in a similar color as the bar’s countertop.
